5,000 SHGs to get revolving fund

Staff Reporter

DINDIGUL: The district administration plans to offer revolving fund to 5,000 self-help groups in the district this year. In the first six months, 2,000 groups will be covered, according to collector R. Vasuki.

She was presiding over a special meeting of the district-level coordination council of Tamil Nadu Women Development here on Thursday. Grading was over for 2,500 new groups and funds had been released to 1,300 groups. Efforts were also under way to disburse direct loan to 100 groups immediately.

All non-governmental organisations and block development officers were advised to contact banks and obtain necessary orders in this connection.

Meanwhile, efforts were also under way to enlist landless women labourers who had registered under National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme in the SHG movement. Initially, they would be encouraged to form 500 groups.
