dated August 29, 1958: Maraimalai Adigal library

Libraries should continue to be living institutions, said Mr. Bishnuram Medhi, Governor of Madras, in a speech in Madras on August 24. Books in the libraries should be frequently used and read widely by all the people and they should be maintained properly, he said, and added that the efficiency of a library should be judged not merely by the manner in which it was run, but also by the manner in which its books were used by the reading public. The Governor was presiding over the inaugural function of the Sri Maraimalai Adigal library, under the auspices of the South India Saiva Siddhanta Society, Tirunelveli, at 105, Linghi Chetty Street, George Town.
