PANAJI: The Goa government on Thursday pleaded ignorance of an affidavit reportedly filed by the government of Karnataka in the Supreme Court stating, inter alia, Goa is part of Karnataka. The issue was raised by a Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Damodar Naik in the State Assembly through a calling attention motion on Thursday. The MLA blamed the State government for its failure to object to the affidavit. Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, in reply to the motion, said that there was no official information available with the government except a news item appearing in a local newspaper and the consequent statement of the MLA. AssuranceMr. Kamat went on to assure the member on behalf of the government that “it is decided to entrust the matter to Ms. Subhashini, advocate of the Supreme Court, to obtain the copy of the affidavit, if any, so that the government would be in a position to file a counter affidavit in the Supreme Court.”
