Three ryots end lives in Kadapa
Special Correspondent
KADAPA: Three debt-ridden cotton farmers, including a couple, committed suicide by consuming pesticide at different places in Porumamilla mandal in Badvel constituency.
Konda Siddha Reddy, 30, and his wife Ramadevi, 25, of Rangasamudram village consumed pesticide in their house following poor yield of cotton crop, which was infested by pests. Mounting debt and loss of crop in five acres of leased land in Varikuntla village led to the couple taking the extreme step. Siddha Reddy died in a private hospital at Porumamilla while Ramadevi died on the way to hospital. They left behind a three-year-old son.
Bijivemula Chennakrishna Reddy, 35, who was saddled with a debt of Rs. 4 lakh incurred by his deceased brother, consumed pesticide on suffering cotton crop loss.
