Television sets soon for 36,150 schools

CHENNAI: The Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) wing of the State’s School Education Department, in association with ELCOT, will soon distribute television sets to 36,150 schools. The television sets, purchased at a cost of Rs.26.12 crore, will help schools to use compact discs with exercises in English and Science, a press release stated.

All government and aided schools would receive a set of 80 such books.

All the 412 Block Resource Centres in the State would receive science digests produced by Thanjavur Tamil University. School Education Minister Thangam Thennarasu would distribute them at a function at the Government Museum in Egmore on September 2. — Staff Reporter
