KOZHIKODE: The Kozhikode Public Library and Research Centre at Mananchira here will conduct a series of programmes for children in connection with Onam. Library sources said the programmes would be held from September 6 to 9. A quiz contest centred on Onam, poetry recitation, painting and floral carpet making competition are some of the programmes. Literary seminar and poets’ meet in which prominent personalities would participate were also planned, library sources said. The schedules for the events are: On September 6: Quiz contest for higher secondary students –10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (each team must have two members); poets meet – 5 p.m. September 8: Floral carpet making contest for children and adults – 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.; poetry recitation and painting competition for students –10 a.m. to 12 noon. September 9: Literary seminar. Cash prizes will be given to the first three prize winners in the contests. To register names to participate in the contests, contact library authorities directly or on phone (0495-2721253) by September 4. The registration time is 10 a.m. to 7.30 p.m. on all days except Mondays.
