Education loan camp
NAMAKKAL: Over 1,500 students along with their parents attended the education loan camp organised by the Indian Bank, at the Government Boys Higher Secondary School (Namakkal South) premises here on Friday.
Collector U. Sagayam inaugurated the fair. A total of 25 banks including private banks participated in the fair and received applications from the students. On-the-spot sanction was given to 437 students to the tune of Rs. 7.42 crore. The Indian Bank had given sanction for a sum of Rs. 2.24 crore as loan to 158 students, State Bank of India sanctioned Rs. 1.36 crore (116 students), Corporation Bank, Rs. 62.58 lakh (34 students) and Canara Bank, Rs.70.00 lakh (32 students), a press release said. Indian Bank Deputy General Manager R. Mahadevan, M. Vijayakumar from Reserve Bank of India, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development Assistant General Manager P. Jayakannan, Lead District Manager T.R. Suresh and senior bank officials Jayaraman and X. Joseph were present.
