Assembly panel for upgrading Polur into a Municipality

Tiruvannamalai: The Assembly Petitions Committee, which toured Tiruvannamalai district, will recommend upgrading of Polur town panchayat to a Municipality.

After conducting a meeting with district officials at the Collectorate here on Friday, committee chairman Kovai Thangam told reporters that it would recommend the upgrading of Polur, in response to a request from MLA P.S.Vijayakumar. The MLA also sought an integrated water supply scheme for Polur from the water stored in Shenbagathoppu reservoir. Mr. Thangam said the panel would recommend execution of the scheme as well.
