GULBARGA: Gulbarga City Corporation officials continued their demolition drive, and compound walls and other encroachments in different localities on Jewargi Road in Gulbarga city were demolished on Saturday. The authorities did not, however, touch any residential building where the owners had sought a period of two to three days for removing encroachments on their own . Some residents on the road from Rashtrapathi Chowk to Kothari Bhavan, which is slated to be widened to 100 feet, and the road from Kothari Bhavan to Ram Mandir, which is slated to be widened to 150 feet, have started clearing encroachments on their own. The authorities said that according to the Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) for Gulbarga city, the road from Rashtrapathi Chowk to Ram Mandir is to have a width of 100 feet. The decision to widen the road from Kothari Bhavan to Ram Mandir to 150 feet was made according to the plans approved for private layouts on the road, they said.
