Funds crunch hits renovation of garden

Staff Reporter

PALAKKAD: District Collector and Chairman of District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) K.S. Sreenivas has said that the Rs.10-crore Malampuzha garden renovation work has been hanging fire for two years for want of funds.

At the tourism awareness seminar organised by the DTPC here on Saturday, he urged the government to mobilise funds to take up the works immediately. He said the Central and State governments should either bear the entire expense, or take up the project under the Build Operate and Transfer (BOT) system or allow the DTPC to take bank loan. No renovation work had been taken up of this prime tourism centre in the last three decades, he added.

K.K. Divakaran, MLA, inaugurated the seminar.
