Lalu seeks military help in relief work
New Delhi: Railway Minister Lalu Prasad on Friday sought the assistance of the armed forces in the relief operations in Bihar. Mr. Prasad said he spoke to Defence Minister A.K. Antony. who instructed Defence Secretary Vijay Singh to immediately activate Army units in this regard.
Nepal’s Foreign Minister Upendra Yadav said here on Saturday that “maintenance and repair of the Kosi river embankment is the responsibility of India” under a bilateral agreement. There were shortcomings in the maintenance of the Kosi embankment. India was bound to give compensation and carry out rescue and rehabilitation in Nepal under the Kosi Treaty, he said. — PTI
