Any foul play in the incident denied NEW DELHI: A day after 11-year-old Nadir of Delhi Public School Mathura Road drowned in the school swimming pool here, a case of causing death due to negligence was registered on Saturday. “A case under section 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered and investigation initiated into the case. Post-mortem has been conducted on the body at All-India Institute of Medical Sciences in the morning. Prima facie, it appears to be case of drowning and there seems to be no foul play,” said a senior police officer. Nadir, a Class 5 student, had apparently scaled the fence around the swimming pool and drowned. He had gone to attend extra classes during evening hours. His father Mohammed Raiz Ahmed is a motor mechanic. Meanwhile, a number of relatives of the victim gathered outside the school on Mathura Road in the morning and raised slogans against the school administration for their alleged negligence in the case. “A teachers-parents meeting was going on in the school when the victim’s relatives gathered outside and demanded that the school be closed to condole the death. They also raised slogans against the school authorities alleging delay on their part in taking the boy to hospital. The meeting was called off in view of the protest,” the officer said.
