Strike followed the transfer of a driver ‘Services to resume completely by Sunday’ NEW DELHI: Hundreds of commuters who travel to Metro stations by feeder buses were put to inconvenience as the service remained off roads for the second day on Saturday. The service of the feeder buses has been disrupted because of a clash between the drivers and the contractor -- Rajasthan Bombay Transport. According to a senior official of the Rajasthan Bombay Transport, the services were suspended after a group of drivers opposed the management’s orders transferring a driver from one route to another. “The reason for their strike is frivolous. We had transferred one driver from a route to another where there was a vacancy, he protested and some others ganged up with him and stopped the feeder buses from plying,” said Mr. Sarna of the RBT. Claiming that a skeletal service was operating on Saturday on three routes, Mr. Sarna said, services will resume completely by Sunday. “We had 13 buses plying on the Dwarka route, 15 on the Shastri Park and seven on the University route. There were some problems in the Pitampura and Vikaspuri areas, but we are hopeful of resuming the full service by Sunday,” he said. Mr. Sarna also refuted the charges that the drivers are not being paid by the company. “We had to remove some drivers from service, because there were complaints from commuters about rash and negligent driving and bad behaviour. We cannot compromise on the quality of the service,” he said.
