Bunty gang member held

NEW DELHI: A 30-year-old member of Bunty gang allegedly involved in several cases of robbery, attempt to murder and murder has been arrested by the South Delhi police. He carried a cash reward of Rs.50,000 on his head.
Mohammed Israel alias Ajay, a resident of Ghaziabad, was on constant move in the areas surrounding the Capital and had recently escaped to Coimbatore to evade arrest in view of mounting police pressure.
A police team had been stationed at Coimbatore on receipt of the information, and raids were carried out on possible hideouts.
On Friday, the police received a tip-off that a young man, resembling Israel, was spotted at Tirupur bus stand in Coimbatore.
He was detained and interrogated at length.
Police misled
He tried to mislead the police initially, but then disclosed his identity as Israel. He was subsequently arrested.
Israel had joined Rama Chandra Mission at Tirupur and crammed some sentences in the local language to hide his identity, the police said.
Israel planned to stay in Coimbatore for a considerable time, till the hunt for the gang members was on in the Capital.
He had joined Bunty in 2001 as a petty pickpocket.
