Decision deferred on appointment of DCC presidents

J Balaji

NEW DELHI: The Congress high command has deferred the decision to appoint new presidents for the District Congress Committees (DCCs) in Tamil Nadu, owing to opposition from groups led by Union Ministers G. K. Vasan and E.V.K.S. Elangovan.

Though the new TNCC president, K.V. Thankgabalu, wanted to revamp all the 48 DCCs after taking over and had prepared a list, the move was resisted by the other camps. Both Mr. Vasan and Mr. Elangovan had urged Congress coordinators that the present set up be retained till Lok Sabha elections Congress sources said.
