Festivals: YSR reviews security arrangements
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD: The State government has decided to seek Central forces for maintenance of law and order during the festival season commencing this week. Reviewing the preparedness of the government to meet security for Ramzan and Ganesh festivals ahead, Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy asked officials at a meeting here on Saturday to utilise the services of Central Reserve Police Force and the AP Special Police in ensuring that the twin celebrations which synchronised passed off peacefully.
Strict vigil
Dr. Reddy asked the Director General of Police S.S.P. Yadav to see that as much force as possible was mobilised from outside the State capital. He was keen that the police keep vigil in sensitive centres.
Officials said peace committees with members of all communities were being constituted to maintain harmony at police station level. All sensitive areas were kept under close observation.
Bandobust will be maintained at major Ganesh pandals.
