Death of journalist condoled

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has condoled the death of senior journalist and freedom fighter Goparaju Venkatanandam whom he described as a value-based journalist.

Besides participating in the Quit India movement, Venkatanandam worked in Andhra Prabha, Indian Express, Andhra Patrika and Janavani, Dr. Reddy stated in a release.

In a separate statement, the AP Union of Working Journalists said Mr. Venkatanandam hailed from Nidadavolu in West Godavari district and was 90 years old. He retired as a professional journalist in 1996 after serving for six decades. He had interviewed Jawaharlal Nehru, B.R. Ambedkar, Jayaprakash Narayan and Sarojini Naidu when they visited West Godavari.
