U.S. bowing to vilification campaign, says BJP

New Delhi: Reacting to reports that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi may not be given a visa to visit the U.S.,the BJP on Saturday said nobody was dying to go to America or needed a certificate from it.

“Dictators can go there [the U.S.]... fascists, murderers can go there but the democratically elected Chief Minister of a federal State of India cannot go there.. nobody is dying to go to America. No one needs a certificate from America,” BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters here.

“Should America bow down to this kind of vilification campaign by a group of people whose agenda is anti-BJP throughout,” he asked.

“Modi has been democratically elected by the people of Gujarat with a thumping majority. There is no personal charge against him except a vilification campaign by a select group, ” Mr. Prasad said. — PTI
