Teachers demand implementation of service rules before Dasara

Appointment of subject teachers in ‘Success’ schools sought

VIZIANAGARAM: Andhra Pradesh Teachers’ Federation (1938) on Sunday demanded transfer of Principal Secretary (School Education) C.B.S. Venkataramana from the present position alleging that he was responsible for the delayed common service rules.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, State Federation president S. Rajasekhar said former Additional Director and Officer on Special Duty P. Veerabhadra Reddy, whom the Chief Minister had appointed and posted in New Delhi, to speed up the process stated in his report that the Principal Secretary was not taking the issue seriously and clearing objections raised by the office of the President. Hence he should be shifted from his present posting, he demanded and asked Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy to pursue it with the President’s office for early approval.

The APTF leader has threatened to teach the Congress Government in the State a lesson in the forthcoming elections if transfers and promotions as per the common service rules were not done before Dasara vacations.

With regard to pay revision commission, he demanded that the report be submitted to the government at the earliest and, in the meantime, 40 per cent interim relief should be paid.

Opposing CPF system for the new recruits, he asked the government to revert to the old PF system, scrap G.Os 76 (‘Success’ programme) and 86 (engaging vidya volunteers as per teacher – pupil ratio) and appoint vidya volunteer in single teacher schools without any restriction. Mr. Rajasekhar appealed to Home Minister Jana Reddy to issue orders withdrawing cases against teachers arrested for staging protests at SSC spot valuation centres two years ago.

A. Sadasiva Rao, district general secretary, urged the government to appoint subject teachers in ‘Success” schools, issue posting orders to the 13 Hindi pundits selected in DSC-2002. Ch. Chinnammatalli, associate state president of the APTF and others were present.
