NEW DELHI: Delhi University has set up 12 control rooms at different places on the campus to ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of students union elections slated to be held on September 5. The control rooms will be set up on the polling day at the following places: South Delhi Campus, Sri Aurobindo College, Deshbandhu College, Ayurvedic and Unani Tibbia College, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College, Bhagini Nivedita College, Aditi Mahavidyalaya, Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education, Shyam Lal College, Lakshmibai College, Kirori Mal College and Office of the Dean of Students’ Welfare. Meanwhile, parties like Students’ Federation of India and Ambedkar Students’ Organisation of India, who have joined hands to contest the campus polls this year, have alleged that the National Students’ Union of India and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad have violated the election code of conduct. “During our campaigning, we have found that the code of conduct is being violated by the NSUI and ABVP. The code of conduct says that printed leaflets are not allowed for canvassing, but these parties have been distributing printed pamphlets during their campaign on the campus,” said Rohit, secretary of the Students’ Federation of India Delhi State Committee. “On the other hand, we have brought out a hand-written leaflet. We staged a demonstration on the North Campus on Saturday and met Chief Election Officer Gurmeet Singh drawing his attention to this violation and sought cancellation of the candidature of their panel,” he added.
