dated September 1, 1958: Peaceful uses of atom

Mr. Dag Hammarskjoeld, the United Nations Secretary-General, on August 31 opened a 20-nation “atoms for peace” exhibition in Geneva which, he said, would demonstrate “the progress that has been made in the development of atomic energy for peaceful purposes.” The exhibition is being run in conjunction with the second international conference on the peaceful uses of atomic energy, which opens in Geneva on September 1.
