Driver crushed under lorry

The driver of a lorry was killed when he was crushed under it near NAD Junction on Sunday evening. According to the Fifth Town Traffic police, the lorry carrying tar from HPCL to Tagarapuvalasa came to a sudden halt when its axle broke near the NAD. The driver and three others were carrying out repairs after lifting the vehicle with a jack. However, the jack gave in and the lorry tilted to one side crushing driver Darapureddy Appa Rao, 25, under it. He died on the spot.
