The authorities of the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation announced a reduction in underground drainage fee per connection from Rs. 2,500 to Rs. 1,000. But the scheme is applicable only to those who are paying house tax of Rs. 400 or more per annum. Today there are several people who are below the poverty line living in small houses . The VMC authorities are requested to consider this and revise fee for providing UGD connection. The option of introducing slab system is advisable as the fee will be different from one type of house to the other. A.Pattabhi Ajithsingh Nagar Need for bus sheltersIn a recent meeting, while addressing the officials of various departments, the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation Commissioner had reportedly sought their cooperation to construct bus shelters in the city. It is necessary that the shelters be constructed on priority basis. It would be good if an ad-hoc meeting was convened by the Municipal Commissioner to finalise the issue. The committee should be comprise the officials of the APSRTC, traffic police, roads and buildings department and the National Highway Authorities of India. The absence of bus shelters is creating a lot of inconvenience to people . C. Ram Mohun Old HB Colony Complete ghat roadThe ghat road leading to Kanakadurga temple on the Indrakeeladri has been closed for vehicular traffic for a long time now. The road widening works have been going on for months together. The officials are issuing statements every now and then stating that the road would be completed soon. It is very difficult for pilgrims, particularly to the aged and women, to reach the temple via the steps route. Very recently, the temple authorities announced that the road works would be completed before the ensuing Dasara Navaratri festival. I request the authorities concerned to complete the works as per schedule and avoid creating inconvenience to lakhs of pilgrims . B. Raghavendra Rao Gandhinagar Pensioners’ woesThe prices of commodities are increasing day by day and pensioners are facing a lot of difficulties. While the salaried class gets increments and pay hikes the pensioners struggle to make ends meet. . Moreover, medicines are getting expensive and same is the case with consultancy fee of doctors and expenses of diagnostic centres. Hence I request Chief Minster Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy to look into these and revise pensions. Otherwise, pensioners might experience a severe financial crisis in the coming days. G. Sundara Ramaiah Guntur
