Bomb hoax at Consulate

Chennai: Police security has been stepped up at the Sri Lankan Consulate in Chennai following a hoax bomb threat on Saturday night.

A G Mourya, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Mylapore), said that the traffic police wing in Guindy, around 8. 30 p.m, received an anonymous threat over telephone about some bomb planted inside the Sri Lankan consulate on T T K Road, Alwarpet. “A thorough inspection was conducted on the consulate premises. The threat proved to be a prank. However, existing security has been tightened and local police strength has been also added,” Mr. Mourya added.

Police are on the look-out for the prankster.
