Woman conned into losing jewellery

Staff Reporter

Chennai: A 63-year-old woman was allegedly tricked and robbed of her gold jewellery and cash by two men at the East Tambaram bus terminus on Saturday. Police said Vijayalakshmi of Vijaya Nagar in Velachery was waiting for bus to Velachery on Saturday evening, when she was approached by two unidentified youths.

They asked the woman to remove her jewels and keep them inside her bag.

While she was boarding a bus, the youths, on the pretext of helping her, held her bag. After reaching home, Vijayalakshmi realised that she had been conned into losing 12 sovereigns of jewellery and Rs. 10,000 in cash.
