TDP leaders threaten to obstruct Sonia’s meetings

Urge Government to solve the problem of fertilizer shortage

TDP to review every scheme launched by the Congress Government

N. Rajakumari dares Member of Parliament

V. Arun Kumar to a public debate

HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam leaders have threatened to obstruct the meetings of Congress president Sonia Gandhi during her forthcoming visit to the State if the Government fails to solve the problem of fertilizer shortage within a week.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, senior TDP leaders N. Janardhan Reddy, Ravula Chandrasekhar Reddy and P. Chandrashekhar said the “inefficiency” of the government had led to fertilizer shortage and accused Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy of failing to pay attention to the problems confronting the people.

Referring to the death of two farmers and agitation launched by farmers in different parts of the State on Saturday, they charged Dr. Reddy with losing his sense of discretion and touring the districts instead of reviewing the situation arising out of fertilizer shortage.

YSR criticised

Ridiculing the Chief Minister for touring different districts to inaugurate Arogyasri scheme after Ms. Gandhi had already launched the second phase, they pointed out that the programme would be automatically implemented all over the State following its launch.

“People are wondering whether there is any administration in the State” said Mr. Janardhan Reddy.

They declared that the Telugu Desam, if elected to power, would review every scheme launched by the Congress government. Changes would also be in Arogyasri and the Government hospitals would be strengthened. Permanent infrastructure could be created in such hospitals if the sum of Rs.1,000 crore spent annually on the scheme was expended on them.

Issue of sarpanches

At another press conference, Telugu Desam spokesperson N. Rajakumari hit out at Congress Member of Parliament V. Arun Kumar for ridiculing TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu’s promises to the agitating sarpanches and dared him to participate in a public debate with her.

She said the TDP leaders would expose Mr. Kumar if he continued his tirade against Mr. Naidu.
