Bank charged with not sanctioning crop loans
ADILABAD: As many as twenty-five farmers from Bheemsary village in Adilabad mandal on Monday demanded immediate sanction of crop loans. The farmers alleged that the Adilabad branch of Andhra Bank is denying them loans for no apparent reason.
The farmers led by Vishwanath, a former upa sarpanch, addressed a press conference after petitioning Collector Ahmad Nadeem in this regard.
They said the bank kept on avoiding the sanction of loans for the past one month. The farmers said that first the officials asked them to get encumbrance certificates from the Registrar’s office. Later, they asked for no-due certificates from different banks. Even when these ‘requirements’ were met, the loans were not sanctioned, they alleged. When pressed for providing a reason, farmers quoted the bank officials as saying that the target given to them for sanction of crop loans had already been attained.
