AGIRIPALLI (Krishna district): A litigation over a shop has led to a group clash and tension in this village in Nuzvid mandal on Monday. The police arrested about 20 persons, who were allegedly responsible for arson, while a sub-inspector on duty sustained injuries.
Veeramachaneni Umamaheswara Rao and M. Umamaheswara Rao of the village were at loggerheads over a building in the village. M. Umamaheswara Rao reportedly rented out a shop in the building to one K. Mukteswara Rao some time ago. However, Veeramachineni Umamaheswara Rao reportedly got a court order in his favour. Armed with the court order, Veeramachineni Umamaheswara Rao forcibly vacated Mukteswara Rao from the shop. It triggered a clash between the duo, and the village was divided into two groups and engaged in stone pelting. In addition, they set about 14 two-wheelers on fire. As the situation was going out of control, the police resorted to lathi charge to disperse the angry mob. Nuzvid DSP G. Narayana Swamy said that the situation was brought under control by Monday evening.
