Govt. to promote budding designers
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: Union Textile Minister Shankersinh Vaghela on Monday announced that the Government would sponsor the Fashion Council of India to promote budding designers. After a brainstorming session with leading designers and industrialists from the textiles and garment sectors here in the Capital, the Minister said the Fashion Council would provide a platform to budding designers to showcase their creative talents and launch them in the global fashion industry.
“There will be 30 per cent reservation for the budding designers. We will also send five toppers from the prestigious National Institute of Fashion Technology to foreign countries for further enhancing their talents,” said Mr. Vaghela, adding that the Fashion Council of India would also seek help of foreign designers to organise fashion shows.
The Minister made it clear that the Government would only provide guidelines and not control the new fashion body.
