Asha activists seek fixed wages

Hundreds of Accreditated Social Health Activists engaged for implementation of various health related schemes as per the recommendation of World Bank sought payment of fixed wages on Monday. They staged a protest at the Collectorate under the aegis of AP ASHA Workers’ Union to press for their demands. Addressing the protesters, union president P. Mani said though the World Bank team that visited the State wanted payment of Rs.800 per worker, the State Government was paying only a pittance for various services like immunization, HIV/AIDS tests.
