HYDERABAD: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) would sanction scholarships of Rs.300 a month to 1,000 meritorious students belonging to the below poverty line families from this year, Endowments Minister J. Ratnakar Rao informed the Assembly on Monday. Replying to a query by E. Prathap Reddy (Congress) and others, he said the scholarships would not be applicable to those studying in the AP Residential Schools/Social Welfare hostels. The expenditure would be met from the TTD’s Sri Venkateswara Vidyadana Trust. Health Minister S. Chandrasekhar told D.K. Aruna (Samajwadi Party) that the government was contemplating to provide 108 ambulance service in every mandal. He said 104 mobile health vehicles were being initially launched with 100 vehicles in Mahabubnagar, Adilabad, Srikakulam and Kadapa districts. Proceedings stalledThe Telugu Desam and TRS members stalled the proceedings for a brief while by rushing to the podium after the Chair announced other questions deemed to have been answered at 10 a.m. Speaker K.R. Suresh Reddy said the decision to close the question hour by 10 a.m. was taken at the floor leaders’ meeting.
