KATHMANDU: Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, Bam Dev Gautam, has said growing violence in Terai would be controlled by using force. There are two kinds of violence seen in the region. One needs to be addressed politically and the other has to be controlled by using force [referring to the social crimes], said Mr. Gautam at a press meet on Monday. For the last couple of years, violence in the southern plains has increased significantly. Mr. Gautam said the Home Ministry would work to equip the security forces with the necessary means and resources to control violence. In six months time, rule of law would be established in the country, said Mr. Gautam, adding: If I fail, I would back off. Maoists-UML clash A clash between the two youth wings of the Young Communist League (Maoist) and Youth Force CPN (UML) in Dhanusha has led to the re-imposition of curfew. The issue of YCL collecting donation has left the region tense for past three days. Meanwhile, Mr. Gautam, who belongs to the CPN (UML), has said action would be taken against any youth group found breaching the law.
