Award for bank

BANGALORE: The Central Bank of India was conferred the first award under the National Awards for Excellence in MSE Lending, based on its performance in lending to micro and small enterprises in 2007-08.

The award instituted by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises was given by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at a function at New Delhi on August 30. It was received by the Chairperson and Managing Director of the bank, H.A. Daruwalla.

According to a release, during 2007-08 the bank’s advances to micro and small enterprises touched Rs. 6,037 crore, and in addition, Rs. 169.46 crore was disbursed to 84,607 beneficiaries under various micro credit schemes.
