In demand: Craftsmen give final touches to Ganesha idols at a workshop at Mazhukeer near Thiruvalla on Tuesday. — PATHANAMTHITTA: Temples in Pathanamthitta district have made elaborate arrangements for the Vinayaka Chathurthi festival that begins on Wednesday. The celebrations at Aranmula Moorthitta Ganapati Temple will begin with the ‘Ashtadravya Maha Ganapati Homom’ on Wednesday morning followed by a ceremonial procession from the nearby Parthasarathy temple. Tantri Akkeeramon Kalidasa Bhattathiri will be the chief celebrant at the ‘anayoottu’, feeding of elephants, to be held at the temple precincts in the forenoon. Idol processionA procession carrying Ganesha idol to the ‘arattu kadavu’ in the Pampa for the immersion ceremony will taken out in the afternoon. Vinayaka Chathurthi will be celebrated at Thukalasserry Mutharamman Temple, Muthoor Karikode Thrikkannapuram Sree Krishna Temple near Thiruvalla, Othera Puthukkulangara Temple, and Kozhenchery Subrahmanya Swami Temple. ‘Ganeshotsav’ beginsA four-day ‘Ganeshotsav’ organised by the Mata Amritanandamayi Math and various other Hindu organisations will begin at the Municipal stadium in Thiruvalla on Wednesday. According to Ma Bhavyamrutha Chaitanya, math administrator, the ‘Ganeshapuja’ will begin with the ‘Ashtadravya Ganapati Homom’ in the morning. A procession carrying the main Ganesha idol as well as 2,000 small idols for immersion in the Manimala river at the Thondara Kadavu at Kuttoor will be held on September 6 afternoon.
