Kiran Bedi NEW DELHI: India Vision Foundation in collaboration with leading firms in the field of computer software, hardware and training launched a new website on Monday that will serve as a “seamless online police community” enabling policemen from across the country to communicate with each other and share their ideas on internal security issues. www.indiapolice.in has been conceptualised by retired police officers Kiran Bedi, who is heading India Vision Foundation, and Arvind Verma, who is a professor with Indiana University in the U.S. “Top companies like Microsoft, HP, Intel, Kyazoonga.com, Mobile Mantra, SCG, 24 Frames Digital, World Wide News, Infosys and LiveWire came together for this noble cause and provided us all necessary assistance. And it took us just five weeks to come up with this website that is based on the concept of shared responsibility,” said Ms. Bedi. The website will provide a platform to policemen from different States to interact on issues of internal security or any other concerns in the spirit of “shared responsibility”: “It is equally an endeavour for citizens to come together as a community to become equal partners in generating new ideas on policing issues,” said Ms. Bedi. A unique feature of the website is that it will offer special scholarships to the children of policemen. “There is a special section focusing on the kids of cops for encouraging Information Technology education, training and other possible assistance to them,” said Ms. Bedi, adding that the scholarships are being offered by Intel. Besides, Microsoft has announced that through the website, it will provide information technology literacy programme for free.
