NSUI, ABVP respond to show-cause notices
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: The National Students’ Union of India and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad have responded to the show-cause notices served on their central panel candidates by the authorities for allegedly violating the model code of conduct for the DUSU elections.
The notices were sent by Chief Election Officer Gurmeet Singh after a number of representations were made by individuals and other students’ organisations on the distribution of printed pamphlets on the campus by the NSUI and the ABVP. As per the code of conduct, only hand-made posters are permitted for canvassing. “I have got their response. Now we will sit and examine them and then take a decision,” said Prof. Singh on Tuesday. Meanwhile, in another incident of students’ union polls-related violence, an FIR was registered at the Maurice Nagar police station against former DUSU president Ragini Nayak, outgoing president Amrita Bahri and another NSUI candidate contesting the post of councillor for allegedly manhandling an ABVP activist on Monday.
