Steps to cut power consumption sought

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Electricity Minister has directed the State Electricity Board to take steps to reduce power consumption for lighting. Display and decorative lighting in shops and other places should be avoided. Streetlights should not be left to burn during day time.

Stringent checks should be done at government offices and institutions to prevent wastage of energy. The Minister said that the restrictions imposed so far had not brought down power consumption considerably. — Special Correspondent
