Job melas for the benefit of youth

Staff Reporter

KARIYAPATTI: The State government is conducting job melas in different parts of the State to enable the unemployed youth to get good jobs, Public Works Department Minister Durai Murugan said on Thursday.

Addressing the 14th batch of the first-year students of the Sethu Institute of Technology here, he said since it was the government’s duty to create job opportunities, the present government had brought in 19 industrial units, with foreign direct investment, to generate jobs for the youth. Furthermore, it had taken the initiative to act as a bridge between the job aspirants and the employers by organising job melas. “It has been a success at Kariyapatti and Nagercoil, as the people having different levels of education have found good jobs.”
