‘Do not give bribe for LPG’

NIZAMABAD: Mayor D. Sanjay has appealed to the poor women beneficiaries not to give bribe to anyone and if anyone demands money for sanctioning of LPG gas cylinders under Deepam Pathakam to bring it to his notice.

Distributing cooking gas cylinders to beneficiaries at the Municipal Corporation office, here on Thursday, he said in all 998 connections were sanctioned for the year 2007-08 from different oil and gas companies in the town. To begin with, he gave away sanction documents to 50 women beneficiaries today.

The rest of the connections would be given from tomorrow, he said.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that 7,600 LPG connections were sanctioned to beneficiaries under the Deepam Scheme across the district for the current year.

The Mayor said among the 998 beneficiaries in the town 922 were general category, 66 Scheduled Caste and 10 Scheduled Tribes people. The balance of 196 connections would also come soon, he said.
