Thiruvananthapuram: The artistes of ‘Karnnabharam,’ which won the Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards for the best play, stage and costume design, will be honoured at a function here on Friday. Industries Minister Elamaram Karim will be the chief guest. He will present the honours at the function to be held at 5.30 p.m. at Tagore Theatre. Anand Mahindra, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, Mahindra Group, will preside over the function. It will be followed by staging of ‘Karnnabharam.’ The Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards have been instituted by the Mahindra Group to recognise and reward the best in theatre being produced in India, according to Ravi Dubey of META. ‘Karnnabharam,’ directed by Madan Kulavil and Chandradasan, was selected the best play from among 90 entries from all over the country. The jury comprising Habib Tanvir, Sushma Seth, Manoj Bajpai, Neelam Man Singh Chowdhry, and Mahesh Dattani selected the winners.
