Chennai: Mumbai left-arm spinner Harmeet Singh captured five wickets for 33 runs, to enable his side’s defeat of Tripura, in the second round of the Buchi Babu all-India invitation cricket tournament, at the SRMC-Turf, on Friday. Harmeet, a feature in the under-15 side, helped Mumbai dismiss Tripura for 156, a target it surpassed in 29.2 overs losing two wickets. Vinayak Mane (59 n.o.) and Abhishek Nayar (69, 52b) put on 119 runs in 20.2 overs for the second wicket to take their side home. Mumbai gained four points from the match. At MAC, Combined District, helped largely by M.K. Sivakumar’s five wickets for 37 runs, restricted Madhya Pradesh to 136. Districts was 102 for three at close. Centuries by S. Anoop Pai and Abhinav Kumar took Hyderabad to 388 for six against Assam at CPT-IP. Anoop made a 187-ball 137, with 11 fours and two sixes, while Abhinav’s 165-ball 129 also included 11 fours and two sixes. Both added 253 runs for the fifth wicket in 53 overs. Ashwin shinesR. Ashwin’s five-wicket haul helped TNCA XI bowl Vidarbha out for 201 at ICL-Gurunanak. TNCA was 39 for no loss in the 10 overs possible. Prabhu Kiran made a quick-fire 62-ball unbeaten 82, which included six fours and four sixes. Vineet scores centuryVineet Saxena made 110, as Rajasthan scored 315 against Baroda at RKM-Vivekananda. Saxena, who struck 15 boundaries, put on 127 runs for the third wicket with Y. Venugopala Rao, in 29 overs. Half-centuries by Digant Bobat and Sunny Patel took Gujarat to 251 for nine against Himachal Pradesh at Murugappa. Vishal Bhatia captured four wickets for HP. Karnataka made 324 for eight against Kerala at Pachayappas ‘A’. K.B. Pawan and Raju Bhatkal made 85 and 77 respectively, while K.J. Rakesh returned figures of six wickets for 103 runs for Kerala.
