Chief Minister gives away compensation in Shikaripur

SHIKARIPUR: Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa on Friday gave away a cheque for Rs. 1 lakh as compensation to Venkamma whose daughter Mary drowned in the Anjanapur canal in Shikaripur town on September 2.

It may be recalled that Ramanna Bhandary who rushed to rescue another girl at the same time also drowned in the canal. The Chief Minister gave away a cheque for Rs. 1 lakh to Shantamma, wife of Ramanna. Mr. Yeddyurappa, who came here from Davangere, met the relatives of the deceased and offered his condolences.
