‘Aim at self-reliance in atomic energy’

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Atomic energy activities in the country were aimed at 100 per cent self-reliance with a strong swadeshi spirit, Srikumar Bannerjee, director, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, said. He was inaugurating a national seminar, ‘Aryabhateeya 2008’ on advanced materials organised by the Swadeshi Science Movement here on Friday. Dr. Bannerjee said the country can realise the three-stage nuclear power generation plant, including use of thorium available in the monazite sand on the Kerala coast. International cooperation would accelerate the programme, he said.
