CPI defers discussion
Special Correspondent
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPI State executive committee has deferred the discussion on Special Economic Zones (SEZs) to September 18.
The party secretariat would meet on September 17 and the State executive would meet on the following day to take up the issue for discussion. The committee could not do so on Friday as scheduled earlier owing to the absence of party State secretary Veliyam Bhargavan, who has been keeping indifferent health for the last few days.
A three-member sub-committee of the party had prepared its report on the SEZ proposals. The idea was to place this report before the executive committee meeting on Friday and Saturday and finalise the party’s stand on the issue by Saturday.
In the absence of Mr. Bhargavan the committee cut short its meeting and dispersed after discussing a few organisational issues. The party needs to finalise its stand on SEZs by September 29 when the ruling LDF State committee is scheduled to meet.
