More water for SCB residents

Union Minister to inaugurate Anagadipet water supply scheme

HYDERABAD: Daily and sufficient water supply which the Secunderabad Cantonment residents have been dreaming for years is soon to be a reality when Union Minister of State for Defence P. Pallam Raju will inaugurate the Anagadipet water supply scheme on Saturday.

Mr. Raju will also launch the online services of the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) enabling citizens to not only source information about various works but also download forms, pay taxes online, get certificates and also register their grievances.

The portal (scb.aponline.gov.in) was developed by APonline (a joint venture company of State government and TCS). The firm already has 30 offices located all over the cantonment which can utilised by the citizens and eight more offices are to be opened in the ward offices.

Plans are also being made to receive and clear building plans online but that will in most probability be done at the head office only. The Union Minister will also lay foundation stone for augmenting the water supply in other areas too.

15 lakh gallons

With Angadipet project, it will be possible for SCB authorities to supply drinking water every day at least for an hour in most of the colonies in a few days time once proper testing of network is done. It will bring an extra 15 lakh gallons per day allowing water to be released to areas like Bowenpally, Diamond Point, Tadbun, Chinnathokatta, Manovikasnagar, etc.

The commissioning of the Rs. 6.6 crore 11-km pipeline from Angadipet village near Jeedimetla, will also ensure that water supply increases to 45 lakh gallons a day. “We will be covering drinking water needs of 40 per cent of our population,” said Chief Executive Officer V. Premchand.
