THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The 1 Kerala Air Squadron NCC under the Thiruvananthapuram NCC Group bagged the Senior Division inter-unit drill and presentation of the guard competitions at the combined annual training camp of NCC under the Thiruvananthapuram Group headquarters that concluded here on Saturday. The seven-day annual camp, held at Sainik School Kazhakootam, was held to shortlist NCC Cadets to represent the state of Kerala at the 2008 Republic Day (RD) parade at New Delhi. As many as 100 cadets have been shortlisted for the RD parade from around 600 cadets who participated in the camp. All the battalions under the Thiruvananthapuram Group took part in the camp. The 1 Kerala Girls Battalion emerged winners in the cultural completions and flag area competitions while Sainik School Company came first in the inter-unit drill competition in Junior Division category. District Collector Sanjay Kaul, who was the chief guest at the function, distributed prizes to the winners. Sainik School principal Col. Ajith Kumar and defence PRO Prakash Magdum were felicitated at the function by Thiruvananthapuram NCC Group Commander Col. A.N. Rae. Commanding Officers of the NCC Units, senior Army officers and associate NCC officers were also present at the function. The next camp will be held at the GV Raja Sports School from September 21 to 30.
