MALAPPURAM: The All India Kisan Sabha has demanded that immediate efforts be made to protect farmers from the dangers posed by wild animals. A meeting of the Kisan Sabha, held here on Saturday, pointed out that the threat to farmers living in the fringe areas of forests was on the increase. The threat of wild elephants was particularly high. The meeting suggested that the government launch a drive to dig trenches and establish power fencing at forest borders to fend off wild elephants. Kisan Sabha district president T. Tulaseedharan presided over the function. District secretary P.M. Vasudevan presented a report. State secretary V.K. Mohanan addressed the gathering.
