PUDUCHERRY: Vice President of the Puducherry Munnetra Congress and MLA K. Lakshminarayanan has urged the government to continue the implementation of Perunthalaivar Kamaraj Financial Assistance scheme for students admitted to professional colleges through the Centralised Admission Committee. At the Teachers’ Day celebrations held at Sucilabai Government Girls Higher Secondary School on Friday, he felicitated teachers who enabled students of Standard X and XII to secure high marks in the public examinations. In this age of technological developments, there could be no substitute for the work of teachers, he said, adding that the gold coin scheme for retiring teachers should be implemented. “The government should bring in solutions for the grievances of teachers. The new Congress government should continue the Perunthalaivar Kamaraj Financial Assistance scheme to help poor students to pursue higher education,” he said.
