GREEN EFFORT: Cuddalore Supreintendent of Police Pradip Kumar planting a sapling on his office premises on Saturday to mark the 150th anniversary of the Police Department. VILLUPURAM: To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Police Department, Deputy Inspector-General of Police E.Ma.Maasanamuthu and Superintendent of Police A.Amalraj planted saplings at the Ka.Kuppam police grounds here on Saturday. The DIG said the celebrations would continue for a year during which saplings would be planted in all police stations, offices of the Superintendents of Police and that of other top officials, besides the training grounds. Essay, oratorical contestsWith a view to foster police-people relationship discussions, debates, and, essay and oratorical competitions would be conducted. In addition to these the department would also organise management programmes, traffic awareness camps and free health camps. Cuddalore Superintendent of Police Pradip Kumar planted the sampling on his office premises, and on the same day about 1,000 saplings were distributed to police stations. It was also proposed to plant 1,500 saplings within a week in Cuddalore. All the police stations have also been illuminated.
