TDP’s no trust move draws flak from Congress Speaker dodged contentious issues: TDP HYDERABAD: The Treasury and Opposition benches traded charges against one another outside the Assembly as the brief 10-day monsoon session concluded here on Saturday. While the Congress accused the Opposition of holding the House to ransom and preventing the proceedings, the opposition parties charged the government with adopting an aggressive posture and preventing discussion on important issues like fertilizer shortage, power cuts, price rice, problems confronting farm sector and sale of land. Government Chief Whip N. Kiran Kumar Reddy told reporters that the adamant attitude of the TDP and other parties resulted in the precious time of the House being wasted. He decried the role of the TDP and the TRS for tabling a no confidence motion against Speaker K.R. Suresh Reddy which would be debated on September 15. The TDP Legislature Party said that the entire Opposition had put up a united fight and isolated the ruling party in the session. TDP legislators -- P. Keshav, D. Narendra Kumar and D. Umamaheswara Rao -- said that the Speaker too had a role in dragging on with unimportant questions to avoid discussion on contentious issues. CPI(M) floor leader Nomula Narasimhaiah and CPI leader Chada Venkat Reddy said the agenda fixed in the Business Advisory Committee was thrown to winds as the ruling party and the TDP traded charges. They lamented that public issues took the back seat in the war of words. TRS floor leader E. Ravinder said the monsoon session left the members disappointed as not a single discussion was completed. BJP leader G. Kishan Reddy said the brief session was akin to two powerful leaders exhibiting their lung power in the House at the cost of people’s issues.
